For sale: 1976 LeGrand MK17 Formula Vee
This car is one of two built by “Red” LeGrand as a prototype for his MK22 FV kit car. The rear clip of this car was updated with a “Sipos” leading arm rear zero roll suspension prior to acquiring the car from its first owner in 1986. I raced this car competitively with SCCA Cal Club for twenty years, and then in 2005 & 2006 raced it with VARA winning many poles and races such that I was class champion both years in the vintage FV2 class. The car has a tall roll bar, a lightweight chassis, and can accommodate larger drivers. This car comes with production quality molds for the nose, upper body, engine cover and both large and small “citation.” style air scoops. All logbooks dating back to 1976 are available, & the car is legal for VARA FV2 in the southwest, Club Formula Vee in the northwest. Freshly restored, the car has all new paint, new seat belts, new gas shocks front and rear, new “Fire Safe” fuel cell, new stainless-steel brake and clutch lines, as well as updates for racing competitive racing in SCCA events. The engine is freshly built professionally by Mark Edwards and sports a “Roxanne’s” 4-2-1 stainless steel exhaust collector. In addition to all this the car comes with two sets of front and rear N.O.S. Hoosier SCCA spec FV slicks, one set of only used once set of Hoosier rain tires and one set of once only used Hoosier FV tires all mounted and balanced on a total of 16 wheels. Spares include one rear control arm, one front axle beam, a complete spare transaxle assembled with axles and backing plates and a completely assembled spare cylinder head. Also included is a freshly painted spare engine cover, an alignment trammel bar, and a VW 5 bolt wheel adapter for tire shop wheel balancing. The car is located in Grants Pass, Oregon.

The engine features a steel billet crank, revs to 7k. D9 cam by Delta, double valve springs, Tilton clutch, Stage 3 head mod, spin-on oil filter system, double ender fuel pumps. Also has the factory fuel tank location with Fuel Safe. Many of this car’s upgrades were guided by the legend, Kas Kastner.
